Japanese Curry Rice 日式咖哩飯

Japanese Curry Rice (Kare Raisu/カレーライス) is one of the most popular dishes in Japanese household. Japanese curry is mild, not too spicy but sweet. Always serve on top of the plain rice with vegetable and meat. Very delicious and comforting food.

To be honest, it is not easy to find nice, authentic Japanese curry in UK. But you can always buy those  Japanese curry cube in Asian grocery stores, and you can cook the authentic Japanese curry at home in 30 minutes. The way how Japanese do.

You can add any kind of meat you like, beef is the most popular one. I always add vegetable in it, with a big plate of rice. There you go, very healthy, delicious, quick and easy week-night dinner.

日式咖哩通常都不辣,而且甜甜的,很適合一家人享用。只要用日式咖哩磚,就可輕鬆做到日式風味,30分鐘搞定!配什麼肉類蔬菜也可,熱騰騰一大煲,超滿足!咖哩汁超下飯,配意粉也很美味,新手不敗的菜式!

Japanese Curry Rice

Add oil in hot pan, cook the onion for 2 minutes, then add carrots and potatoes, cook for 5 minutes. 

先將馬鈴薯,紅蘿蔔洗淨切小塊,洋蔥切粗絲,將肉類(雞肉,豬肉,牛肉都可以)切小塊。熱鑊下油,下洋蔥煮兩分鐘,然後下紅蘿蔔及馬鈴薯,煮五分鐘。2016-03-29_20.33.37

Add the meat and cook until browned.

Add in water, bring it to boil, then simmer for about 15 minutes, or until the popatoes are tender.

下肉類煮至肉變成色,然後下800毫升沸水,用中火煮沸後,轉小火煮至馬鈴薯煮透(約十五分鐘)*如太乾,可多加點水。2016-03-29_20.34.41

Remove from heat, add the Japanese curry cubes and mix well. Then back to the heat, cook for  5 more minutes, until the sauce is thickened. 

Serve on top of plain rice, enjoy!

離火,下咖哩磚,與所有材料拌勻,然後再用小火煮十分鐘至稠身即成!

Ingredients
  1. 400 gram meat
  2. 1 onion, sliced
  3. 2 carrots, chopped
  4. 3 potatoes, chopped
  5. 6 small Japanese curry cubes
  6. 800 ml water
  7. 材料:
  8. 肉類- 400克
  9. 洋蔥- 1個
  10. 紅蘿蔔- 2條
  11. 馬鈴薯- 3個
  12. 日式咖哩磚- 6塊
  13. 沸水- 800毫升
Instructions
  1. Add oil in hot pan, cook the onion for 2 minutes, then add carrots and potatoes, cook for 5 minutes.
  2. Add the meat and cook until browned.
  3. Add in water, bring it to boil, then simmer for about 15 minutes, or until the popatoes are tender.
  4. Remove from heat, add the Japanese curry cubes and mix well. Then back to the heat, cook for 5 more minutes, until the sauce is thickened.
  5. Serve on top of plain rice, enjoy!
