Spaghetti al Pomodoro 蕃茄羅勒意粉
Very classic Italian pasta dish, Spaghetti al Pomodoro. Pomodoro means tomato, usually use cherry tomatoes to cook with spaghetti and basil. This is super easy to make, simple, healthy, delicious! Buonissimo!
This is one of the most common and popular pasta dish in Italy. I always see my friends cook it, the color looks like Italian flag, maybe this is also the reason too. The first time I learnt to cook this, my friends took me to his little garden, with a tiny basket. We just pick those gorgeous cherry tomatoes, fresh and juicy. And went to the herbs area and pick the fresh basil.
I am a city girl, all the food I bought is from supermarket, it is hard to imagine you can just pick something in your garden and cook it. This is the greatest part of Italian cuisine, no fuss, just the simple , great ingredients, simple seasoning and you will have the best food ever. This is my all time favourite, cook like Italian and eat like Italian.
So the simplier the dish is, the better ingredients you need. You need the freshness and taste of those ingredients with salt and pepper seasoning. Cook the pasta al dente, follow the package suggested time and cook one minute less. Keep the pasta water and put in your sauce. Toss well and serve immediately.

Cut the cherry tomato in half, minced the garlic. Bring a pot of salted water to boil, cook the spaghetti and drain well. Add olive oil and garlic in a pan, cook at low heat for 3 minutes to let the garlic flavour come out.
Then turn to medium heat and add tomatoes. Cook for about 4 to 5 minutes until the tomatoes soften but not mushy. Add in basil, spaghetti and 3 tablespoon of pasta water, toss well, sprinkle with some cheese. Done!
- 150 gram spaghetti
- 350 gram cherry tomatoes, halved
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Parmesan cheese
- 意粉 -150克
- 車厘茄 -350克
- 蒜頭 -2瓣
- 羅勒 -適量
- Parmesan 芝士 -適量
- Bring a pot of salted water to boil, cook the spaghetti and drain well.
- Add olive oil and garlic in a pan, cook on low heat for 3 minutes.
- Add in tomatoes and turn on medium heat, cook for 4 to 5 minutes until softened.
- Add basil, spaghetti and 3 tablespoons of pasta water, toss well.
- Sprinkle with cheese, enjoy!
