Pearl Sago with Coconut Milk 椰汁西米露

This is very popular dessert in Asia, we called it ‘sweet soup’. It is very tropical style dessert, with cocoanut milk and sago. The sago is transparent like pearls, a little bit chewy, with sweet coconut milk, very delicious!

You can always find this dessert in Asian dessert shops. Usually we will add some yam, or fresh fruit like melon, watermelon, mango, mixed fruit in this sweet soup. Mix it all together, serve warm or cold. Of course, in Asia usually has to serve it cold, to cool you down. Perfect dessert for summer!

This is very easy to make, cook the sago become transparent little pearls. Mix with boil coconut milk, add some fruit, this is it! You can find all ingredients in Asian grocery stores. Have a try, you will love it.

Recipe - Pearl Sago with Coconut Milk

Bring a pot of water to boil, then add sago, cook at medium heat for 10 minutes. The sago will have little white spots, remove from heat, cover with lid and let it set for 15 minutes. The sago will become transparent. Rinse under water for few times, this can help the sago not to stick together. Drain well and set aside.

先煮沸一鍋水,然後下西米,用中火煮10分鐘,然後離火。西米會有一點點白色。一直蓋上鍋蓋,焗15分鐘,西米會變成透明狀。用水沖西米數次,可令西米不黏在一起。瀝乾水份備用。

In a large pot, add coconut milk and water together, bring it to boil. Then add rock sugar, cook until the sugar dissolved. Then in sago and mix well. Serve warm or cold, add fresh fruit before serve.

在大鍋內,將椰奶及開水拌勻,煮沸後下冰糖。煮至糖溶化,再加入西米,拌勻即成!

Ingredients
  1. 80 gram sago
  2. 300 ml coconut milk
  3. 400 ml water
  4. Rock sugar, to taste
  5. 材料:

  7. 椰奶 -300毫升
  8. 水 -400毫升
  9. 冰糖 -適量

Notes
  1. If you like the coconut flavour, you can add more coconut milk.
