Ingredients
  • 190 g Dates
  • 150 ml Boiling Water
  • 180 g Salted Butter
  • 220 g Brown Sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • 180 g All-purpose Flour
  • 10 g Baking Powder
  • 5 g Baking Soda
  • 100 ml Milk
  • 2 tbsp Treacle
Toffee Sauce
  • 80 g Butter
  • 100 g Brown Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Treacle
  • 200 ml Double Cream
Instructions
  1. Cut the pitted dates into small pieces, soak it in boiling water for 15 minutes. 

  2. Cream the butter and brown sugar, then add in eggs, milk and treacle, mix well.

  3. Sift in baking soda, baking powder and flour, mix until well-combined. Then add in soaked dates (with water), mix well. Then pour in buttered baking tray, pop in preheated oven at 180C, bake for about 35 minutes. 

  4. Toffee sauce: Put all the ingredient in a saucepan, use medium low heat to cook until all melted and bubble. 

  5. Pour some toffee sauce on top of the cake, let it rest for 10 minutes. Serve with ice-cream and more toffee sauce. Enjoy!
