Sesame Balls 黃金煎堆

It less than a month till Chinese New Year !!!!! I know, this year will not be the same as usual, and sadly I cannot go back Hong Kong to celebrate. BUT life goes on and we just have to make the most of it!

So this year, I decide to make as much as Chinese New Year food as possible haha Let’s fry some food! I love sesame balls, they are crispy but chewy on the inside, you can add some sweet filling like red bean paste, lotus paste or black sesame paste, but I prefer no fillings. They are very easy to make and hope you like it!

農曆新年快到,又要預備過年的食物。雖然疫情關係不停回港過年,但就是生活再苦也要話得甜,所以決定今年要做更多的賀年食品,好好慶祝!

黃金煎堆(麻团),Q靭又酥脆的外層,充滿芝麻香,內裡可加入紅豆蓉,蓮蓉等餡料,可口又美味!煎堆碌碌,金銀滿屋!

Mix the hot water with sugar, until sugar dissolve. The pour the mixture into a bowl of Glutinous rice flour, mix well and form a dough.

Divide the dough into 6 to 8 pieces, or smaller if you like. Roll into balls. Dip the doughs into water, then coated with sesame seeds.

Preheated the oil to 155C, fry the dough under medium low heat. Gently move the dough frequently and press it a bit, this will help the dough to become bigger. Once the dough float on the oil, increase the oil temperature and fry it till golden. (takes around 10 minutes)

將熱水和糖拌勻至糖溶化, 在大碗內加入糯米粉,然後加入熱水,拌勻成麵糰(*可能不需要用份量全部的水,成濕潤麵糰便可,不可以乾或表面有裂紋)

將麵糰分成6至8份(或做小一點,隨自己喜歡),搓圓. 將麵糰沾水,再沾滿白芝麻,壓實

將油預熱約155度C,用中小火慢慢炸麵糰,期間不停轉動麵糰,再輕輕壓麵糰,令煎堆變大。當煎堆浮上面,可將油溫加熱,再炸至金黃色即成!(炸約10分鐘)
